Basement Floor Makeover!

We started this basement floor project with alot of prep work, the work included removing carpet, repairing cracks, removing some tile, patching in small holes where the carpet tacks were located along the whole perimeter of the entire floor, and grinding the everything,  so we had our work cut out for us.

IMG_1536Once the prep work was done, we began the Decorative Concrete process, it started with our first base coat which was a very dark chocolate colorant with some charcoal colorant added in, then a second base coat of the same, which is pretty standard. Once the 2 base coats were down we taped out  1/2 inch boarder with our threaded strapping tape which was about 6 1/2 inches from the wall, the reason for the odd width of the boarder was to accommodate the 1/2 inch baseboard that the homeowner would eventually add back on after we were done and they had another coat of paint on the walls, this would bring the boarder to a 6 inch boarder in width around the whole perimeter of the entire concrete surface.
Now its time for more concrete we put a tack coat over the whole surface so that the next color coat would not bleed under the strapping tape, once that coat was on we came back in with 2 White coats of concrete (zero colorant in the concrete). After the first coat was down and dry we prepped the walls with paper and some area’s with plastic, then we proceeded with our second coat which was the texture coat.IMG_1548

Next was the Acid Staining, we wanted 2 coats of acid stain, first coat was a Umber color, sort of a yellow gold color, the second acid stain coat was a brown color, once I got the look I was after we let it dry and do its thing. Once it was dry we came in with an Ammonia wash on the entire floor and shop-vaced the water up, placed our fans on it and let it sit for 2 days and dry out real well over the weekend.

Came back and applied our Premium High Gloss Epoxy Finish to give it that nice super high gloss glass like look say that 5 times really fast :)…. laid it out and squeegeed it around then back rolled it. came back the next day and put down a Scratch Proof urethane coat once dry I shot this Video and snapped a few pictures of the finished look.
The Homeowners were very very happy!

Wicked New Floor DESIGNS Coming Soon!!

This bathroom floor had tile.  We applied a polymer based concrete over the tile so we could start with a flat surface.  We then resurfaced it with a Pearl Marble Glaze epoxy and added multiple acetone base stains.  While the epoxy cured it gave us this really wicked design.  The look is a little much for some people, but most everyone seems to love it.

This finish is perfect for Residential settings such as living areas, basements or garage floors.  Perfect way to brighten and awe customers in commercial areas such as retail spaces, shopping malls, auto dealerships, medical offices, restaurants, or more!!

Metallicmarble

Limitless colors with a seamless look this finish is becoming a trend in retail, commercial and residential flooring.  Metallic Marble is industrial grade that is durable in high traffic areas and easy to clean with scratch and slip resistance options.

20 Year Old Concrete Gets a Modern Day Makeover.

We started this Project with Concrete that was about 20 years of age, it had several cracks and some stained area’s, part of the concrete was just added within the last year, so the colors of the two slabs of concrete was way different, my client wanted to have the cracks repaired and make the New and Old concrete colors blend together and look as one single slab, and that’s exactly what we did.

Our First task was to do some grinding, open the cracks up and get them repaired, after that we had to get the concrete prepped and ready for a Brand New Overlay with some Acid Staining. The Base coats went down great and the two large slabs of concrete now looked like they were the same color, the texture was a rock trowel, once the texture was on we put plastic on the home and the screened in patio area.

Next step was to Acid Stain the entire surface to pull it all together and marbleize the surface, we used a Chocolate and a Charcoal Colorant to add into our Antiquing Stains, so we were looking for a taupe color, once we had the color blend we were looking for we started the Acid Staining Process.IMG_1267

The Final step was to Lock it all in with a Quality Sealer and make the concrete look new and revived, I believe we saved the home owner from having to tear out and re-place the entire slab of Old Concrete which would have cost about 20k, needless to say they were very happy, please enjoy the pictures located here I will have a Video up very soon.

Epoxy Coatings with Decorative Flakes (or Chips)

The most common garage floor solution is an epoxy floor with decorative flakes or chips. There are several benefits to adding these to your floor. They are a great source of traction and do not make your garage floor slippery. It is generally less slippery than your normal concrete when wet. With concrete slabs come imperfections in the finish – this means low spots, waves, etc. Normally you can see these imperfections well, however, when a gloss epoxy coating is applied the imperfections are brought to light. The flakes will hide these imperfections and make your floor look beautiful! And, not to mention, the flakes come in many sizes and hundreds of color combinations so you can pick the colors you like best!

After the flakes/chips are on the floor at a 100% prod-cast, we seal them in with a super high-gloss performance clear epoxy coat and gives that WOW factor!Custom Epoxy Garage Floor
